JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Accountant 3 - Office of the Bursar Finance and Business is a values driven organization that supports thousands of university faculty, staff, and students, while also providing services to the broader community and society.

" As an incoming team member in the Office of Budget and Finance, it will be expected that all employees embody and model Penn State's and Finance and Business's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
The unit of Endowment Accounting within the Office of the Bursar is seeking a motivated individual to fill the position of Accountant 3 .
The responsibilities for the Accountant include, but are not limited to the following: C reate endowment budgets, monitor and analyze endowment accounting records.
Review and approve financial documents for accuracy, completeness, and conformity with endowment guidelines.
Submit journal entries related to endowments.
Assist colleges/campuses with existing endowments and review in conformance with state and federal regulations, as well as University policies.
Ensure endowment criteria established by the donor are followed throughout the scholarship awarding process.
Create/update endowment/annual gift profiles, including reporting, reconciliation, and accounting within the endowment information system.
Coordinate the depositing and recording of royalty and outside trust checks.
Perform pending gifts reconciliations.
Assist with budget transfer processes due to guideline revisions and cost center change requests.
The successful candidate for this position must possess the following characteristics: Excellent communication skills to address unique situations and concerns in daily interactions with various Penn State offices and students.
Excellent problem-solving skills to plan, organize, and direct work objectives, priorities, and deadlines.
Maintain a high level of professionalism and the ability to meet specific deadlines.
Demonstrate the ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Strong organizational skills with an attention to detail.
This position typically requires a Bachelor’s degree or higher plus 4 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Microsoft Excel.
Proficient knowledge of SAP preferred.
This position offers a flexible work arrangement that combines remote and on-campus work.

Due to the financial and fiduciary responsibilities of this position, successful completion of a credit history check will be required in addition to standard background checks.

CAMPUS SECURITY CRIME STATISTICS: Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR).
The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters.
