Under direction, the purpose of the position is to provide legal defense for indigent persons within Clearfield County.
Employees in this classification perform legal work.
Position is responsible for preparing for and representing clients at trials and sentencing, attending jury selection, pre-trial and pre-sentence conferences, and preparing appeals.
Prepares for and attends juvenile detention adjudication and disposition hearings revocation, sentencing, ARD, mental health, preliminary and extradition hearings, motions court and trials.
Reviews files for hearings and trials and conducts legal research.
Prepares for and submits appeals to Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole, common wealth court and superior court.
Attends state board of probation and parole violation hearings.
Attends criminal jury selection, criminal call, pre-sentencing and pre-trial conferences.
Negotiates pleas with representatives for the Commonwealth.
Interviews clients, explains proceedings and documents to clients.
