JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Office of Technology Management within the Office of the Senior Vice President for Research at The Pennsylvania State University is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Contracts Officer.
The mission of the Office of Technology Management is to protect Penn State intellectual property (IP), identify its commercial potential, and stimulate economic development through the transfer of Penn State technologies to the marketplace.

The individual in this role will report to the Associate Director for the Office of Technology Management at University Park.
Responsibilities: The primary responsibilities of this position include the following:
Drafting, negotiating, and executing non-revenue agreements such as confidentiality agreements, material transfer agreements, data transfer agreements, inter-institutional agreements, and others as assigned.
Streamlining the processing and handling of such agreements to improve processing times and reach metric goals.
Communicating regularly with stakeholders including technology licensing officers, PSU researchers, and other PSU offices.
Education and Experience: Typically requires a Master’s degree or higher in a technical or business discipline or higher plus three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs.
A law degree and a strong technical background in the biomedical/life sciences desirable.
The candidate should have excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; good negotiation skills; the ability to interpret and manage numerous complex agreements; the ability to manage and coordinate multiple and diverse projects simultaneously through to completion; be highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a team environment; and have the ability to establish priorities.
